Playing with a mini fog machine and a spandex gravity well. The fog is kind of a gimmick but practically, it adds an extra layer visualization and traces orbits. Really fun to play with.

Beautiful day for HA Solar observing at Western Heights Middle school. Got to show over 200 kids the chromosphere.

A surprising popular worksheet page on telescope math which also began a series of “Astro-Baddies”: people who spoke truth to power, overcame adversity, were persecuted, excluded, imprisoned or killed for being who they are and/or sharing what they discover. Galileo was the first that came to mind.

On the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA with my 8” Dob a few years ago. I was finishing up the last few galaxies on the Messier list. Amazing dark there. The first time I felt like I was drowning in stars.

Doing some HA observing at the Boys and Girls Club with a double stacked Solarmax II 90mm. There were some great prominences and massive sunspots and the kids lingered at the eyepiece longer than any other outreach I’ve done.

When we discussed Venus and its supercharged Greenhouse Effect we investigated some new ways of seeing. The Landing Zone game was designed to communicate the basics of radar and how we image planets with satellites.

Class game I tried with the astronomy club at Salem Ave Elementary’s After the Bell program. One of many games I hope to improve.

Game board for The Saturnians and the Lifeform cards. A simple game inspired by the idea that nutrients expelled by moons could travel on Saturns magnetic field.

This is an illustrated mini chart of the Spring Triangle. It’s an asterism connecting the bright stars Spica, Arcturus, and Regulus. It frames a region rich in galaxies that are observable with a small telescope.
