I stumbled over this railway embankment, for sidings serving mine works in Murk Esk, and now I can't thinking about the archaeology of railways.

These photos don't really do the situation or hard work of the fire crews, farmers and volunteers justice, but go some way to showing the scale of the Langdale Moor fire. We will be on hand to support @northyorkmoors.org.uk in the recovery efforts when its safe to do so.

Great site visit to Thornhill Hall Moated site near Dewsbury this morning. Not all as it seems as a great deal of victorian "restoration" has changed the character of the medieval and 17th century earthworks.
