Why have the #Times, #DailyTelegraph and #FinancialTimes changed #RachelReeves suit colour from pale green to pale blue on their front pages? Is this their less than subtle way of pushing #Reform? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Newspaper headlines: Spending Review 'renewing Britain' or 'reckless splurge'
Reaction to the chancellor's Spending Review dominates the front pages on Thursday.

This is a clear cut coordination policy intended to force independent institutions into loyalty with the regime. It is obviously the behaviour of an authoritarian state and anyone who claims otherwise needs their fucking head examined www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Shocking electricity prices today from the @octopus.energy Agile tariff (£1 per kWh at peak between 15:00-17:00). They seem to be too embarrassed to publish tomorrow's Agile rates, which should have been out over two hours ago.

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation

Nothing like some data to help understand an issue. I suspect the VAT can largely be absorbed by good management of existing income.
A lot of rich parents are very upset at the government for charging VAT on private school fees. Maybe they should instead ask why private schools have put up fees so far above inflation over the past 15 years. www.ft.com/content/852b...

This Christmas Day river #Mersey #sunset with #virga clouds got lost as a blank image on first posting, so I am trying again. Three days of fog since, so perhaps the blank image on first posting was a prophecy.

This was highly predictable, repeating what China did with rare earth elements (REE) in 2010. In December 2023, China banned export of REE processing tech, presumably to stifle competition, and in October 2024 restricted REE exports in an effort to raise world prices. tinyurl.com/preview/23dx...

It's my opinion that Victoria Derbyshire should replace Laura Kuenssberg on every single BBC show she is on, and she should do it right now.

I'm sure you agree.

Great to see the University of Liverpool’s Herdman Earth Science Society join BlueSky. It is run by the geology students.

If you are an alumnus give them a follow at @herdman.bsky.social. Here is a gratuitous picture of some Herdman Society students in West Brittany in 2017 complete with #BlueSky.
