Writer.
I think that’s a great personal insight. I feel the exact opposite about LA vs NY, but none of these places are perfect for everyone. I strongly believe you gotta find the place that feeds your soul creatively.

Not in LA, but if I was I’d come hang out. Hope you have a great time!

If the project needs a pitch deck, and there’s money to be made on the project, it’s likely someone else will do it for you, and it shouldn’t cost you anything.

I feel like, for the haven’t sold a project crowd, it’s become an exploitative way to get writers to spend hours away from writing or pay money for “the missing piece” to breakthrough, when I think the reality is great concept + great script is where their focus should be.

On both my projects where I dealt with prod companies, they would make their own pitch deck for the project. So I don’t think there was any expectation or desire for the writer to make one, as they know better what to emphasize to sell the project.

I don’t get it, but I get it. Glad you’re tough. And great advice to feel it all. But hope nobody lets it defeat them for too long. I’ve definitely done that a time or two when the didn’t place/pass note came.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this. It sucks. But when you’re ready, lean into the excitement of proving them wrong.

Had a bowl of chili, watched Fight Club, reassured myself I wasn’t that bad. Felt sad, but promised myself I’d prove him wrong. Not there yet, but a little closer every day.

The first time I had a script submitted to UTA, a long while ago, I got absolutely destroyed in coverage in a way that I don’t believe any other person ever has. Just mercilessly brutal.

Glad it’s getting better.

Outlining ANOTHER draft of my rom com. Sigh. But it’s getting better with each one, I think.
