The in universe reason is that when Lions die they become the grass and the prey eat the grass.....course the prey also could die and become the grass. Anyways the real problem is capitalism. They ended up making fun of it in one of the sequels. Extended canon also adds this (see other pic)

It's pretty dark and depressing at times. But it's a solid remake of one of the best video games of all time in my opinion.

Something I’ve always loved about Calvin’s parents is you can see bits of him in them. His Dad is very stubborn and hates convention and his Mom is kinda snarky and wry. They probably both got in trouble as kids

I think it's funny tho. Finding the CEO murderer sucky because of his shitty reddit posts is worse than killing according to the internet but also he's probably done more progress for social justice than any of us ever will.
