have made a frame in the polytunnel on the allotment. Want to grow a cucumber for show in an old cold water tank where I usually grow carrots. How much volume of soil does a cucumber need . A bucketful? More? Going to leave the sharp sand surrounding the compost for drainage (too much to remove)

In March I struggled to get 17 Dahlia tubers to sprout.then at allotment planting time I wrote. the name and position in my notepad. Now I count 29 and I have no record of numbers 1 and 2 as well as 16 to 20. ? Black hole, strong drink or old age or a combination of all three.

Time for a sit down and, a rest in the polytunnel. Best part of being on the allotment.

Stapled the plastic to my door frame and then trimmed with some spare bits of timber I found on the allotment.
Next job is to cut out the plastic where the door and then make said door.

After a long gap finally got the cover on the polytunnel in the sunshine down the allotment. Now preparing to fix the bottom with roofing batten screwed on to the base rail.
Used some stick on tape from first tunnels to form a barrier between the metal frame and the plastic.

Finished off the polytunnel base at the allotment and fixed in the two doors using postcrete at one end and cable ties at the top. Meant I had to cut the metal tubing... Gulp

The #allotmentlife is like a pudding but at least the spikes to hold down the polytunnel go in easy

The frame is cable tied to the decking and sits on the balustrade rail

Started erecting my cheapo polytunnel from Temu. Going to use some plastic ballustrading and solid plastic decking that I over ordered in the summer.

Note to self. When filling barrels for long carrots on the allotment spend a bit more time making them mares tail proof
