My last outing for my (last) week back in #montreal was again at Lola Rosa (except it was not due to dietary restrictions this time, but rather laziness to pick places). There was a loud group of 7~8 people near the windows so my friend and I had to rely on […]

Went to @foulab watching a friend tinkering with their devices... I was not (nor am I generally) prepared to do anything hands-on in a #hackerspace so I decided to take a few shots of their little #retrocomputing museum.

One recent self-cooked #meal that I liked is rotini #pasta with bell peppers, celery, mushrooms and chicken breast, topped with alfredo sauce and laoganma sauce. The sauces are doing most of the work here: spicy on creamy is... an interesting taste, to be honest. #food

As an extra: one of my accompanying friends brought a Minecraft turtle #plushie, so we have that looking into a real #turtle in the pond...

Perhaps I should be a bit less greedy with the portion size (and the veggie size)... But the meal is quite succulent, despite the difficulty to, y'know, handle it physically (with chopsticks)...

Anyone got any tips to make #curry thicker (like a sauce instead of a soup)? Is it just a matter of adding less water? (For the record I cooked the beef then have the broth + curry slow cooked for 2 hours...)

(Yes, I know putting #pasta in a curry #soup does not […]

I also tried taking shots at the destination box from below, aiming towards the sky above (for a nice feel) or the skyline in the background (for a contrast with modernity). Unfortunately I couldn't really get a picture with the subway on the Manhattan Bridge […]

It's @nytransitmuseum.bsky.social 's #bus festival! It looks more natural when they're being driven on the road than being stationary at the plaza (with tons of people)...

Bit of a slop meal, tastes good though. #groundbeef with tofu, mushroom, shrimp & veggies, plus sriracha sauce (which is probably doing a lot of work here). #food

Extra irony for sending this on a #monday... but here's a sign outside a #bar.

There was a "maximum 3 noeuds" sign on Rue (Promenade) Wellington in Verdun. Is it supposed to mean "knots"? I mean 3 knots is approximately 5.5 km/h so it makes sense? But it isn't really a place known for sailing or anything...

Later that day I met one of my undergrad classmates (plus their friends) and visited the two DARKFIELD immersive experience containers on exhibit at Old Port: one is FLIGHT, which tries to demonstrate the "quantum physics theory" of observing what's inside the […]

On another day I tried Lola Rosa (545 rue Milton) for the first time (despite proximity to McGill and me graduating from there, I have never tried it while on campus) while catching up with another group of semi-online friends. I'm not that well-versed in nerding […]

Had lunch with @RapidKebab once (and despite shared attributes it's our first encounter). I had breakfast #poutine because he said the portion is big (while I was again overwhelmed by the abundance of choices on the menu), which was pretty good. Had some […]

A shot of an Apple advert, at Lionel-Groulx metro station in Montreal, showing the South Street Seaport in NYC. (There's no way you can draw that by hand on an iPad.)

Yeah, I've been back in NYC for like a week now, yet I still haven't fully recounted things […]

By the way, somehow this "Watch for the doors" sticker for the elevators (NOT for the trains) ended up on the floor of an Azur train... How did this happen?

Another #tree in the #montreal #metro network is the Tree of Life at Lionel-Groulx. A rather simple to understand, yet still powerful #sculpture. The steel mural is said to "reflect passengers' movements below" but I interpreted as the up-and-down movement (given […]

Now onto #sculpture's on this little stroll in the #montreal #metro. There's this concrete tree, Un arbre dans le parc, rooted on the platform at Georges-Vanier, and there's some blue trapezoidal forms and circular tiles on the platform. The metro loves exposed […]

Last #stainedglass #artwork on this #montreal #metro trip: the colourful windows for the ventilation shaft at Charlevoix. By the way, you can hear the rain hitting the bottom of the shaft on the platform, it produces a very soothing sound, on top of bringing the […]

Some #montreal #metro stations are boring. Place d'Armes, uncomfortably embedded under the Palais des Congrès, unfortunately falls into that pile. This #stainedglass #artwork - added in 2017 - is the only decoration in the station (other than the unlit […]

Well, there are certainly simpler (and less political...) artworks in the #montreal #metro. Here's the #stainedglass decorating the station building at Champ-de-Mars (bringing in skylight to underground stations does seem to be a popular choice here) […]
