He neglects to mention that they were dressed from head to toe in white robes with pointed hats, brandishing a burning crucifix...

If anybody is guilty of restricting intelligence to the US right now, it's God

If I was US President, I would simply avoid greenlighting an expensive security project that relies on ownership of land belonging to somebody else.

I'm still not totally ruling out the theory that this is just about expanding territory, and his obsession with Greenland in particular stems from his failure to grapple with the Mercator projection.
January 17, 2026 at 5:42 PM
I suspect the reported mineral wealth of Greenland is also a major factor: apparently it's rich in all the things you'd need to secure an energy transition from fossil fuels, and it'll be easier to get at it as the ice melts. Ironic that a party of climate change deniers seem to obsess over it...

Presumably this includes some of the development costs - meaning that once the production line is up and running, cost per unit should decrease.
January 12, 2026 at 8:15 AM
Watching The Spectator cosplay here as the neutral, informed voice of reason - while they've spent the last decade actively PROMOTING the very politics which inevitably leads to ICE - is enough to make me want to throw up things I'd forgotten even eating...

Not the biggest issue with the article but they are also using the 'everything's fine' meme template wrongly. It's supposed to represent someone who is in denial about imminent danger, not the person who is warning about it!

I’d settle for seeing parallels with events in the same news cycle: we were being told that Labour were looking to the Danish Social Democrats for inspiration *during the same week* that the SD vote tanked in regional elections, and the party lost Copenhagen for the first time in a century

Feels like @dorianlynskey.bsky.social leaving OGWN closes the chapter on the OG Remainiacs era now that you, @pimlicat.bsky.social and @sturdyalex.bsky.social have all moved on to other projects. You got us all through some dark times with wit and wisdom. Thanks <3

In the past couple of years, I’ve received ads encouraging me to buy a Ferrari, buy breast implants and buy waterproof underwear (the better to prevent awkward stains after visiting the urinal, see). As a man in the bargaining phase of the early mid-life crisis, I feel seen 🙏

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which. 🟥🤝🟦

What’s the value of “talking” to Russia when Russia aren’t interested in even pretending to listen?

Still, it's heartbreaking to see the NATO SecGen reduced to this level of forelock-tugging supplication and imitating Trump's speech patterns to get him on-side. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! 🤦‍♂️

Isn't the point of Civil War that both sides have a point? It's a comic book exploration of the Euthyphro dilemma. If we assume governments act morally, then following government instruction is the moral thing to do. But when the government agency is a Hydra-infiltrated SHIELD (Winter Soldier)?
