Cid is ten and in his father's office. His eyes are directed at a screen Cid can't see. The clock on his desk is a minute fast and Cid does not fidget because he is a good daughter. If he is a good daughter and does it all correctly, then everything is going to be alright. His father casts a glance at his braids and at his freshly ironed dress. He does not show any emotion. Now that may have been because Nero was just as flushed in the face as he was, or maybe it was the fact this was the third time they’d ‘met at the library’ in the past sennight, but the most damning evidence was that they’d started bickering about how best to refine the experience. As if it were a project. He supposed in some ways, it was.
