I'm slooooowly getting through my Tunisian crochet pattern-writing backlog, here.

This wee beaut is called #TectonicShawl, after the way the centre buckles and ruffles under pressure. It sure is cozy!

I'm delighted how well this light Tunisian crochet hat has turned out.

This, truly was a long time coming, folks.
I crocheted this sample last spring.
I got it edited last summer.
My testers rifled through it all autumn...

Then I sat on it like a reluctant hen for a year. 🐔 Bok Bok.

But, finally I'm clearing my 🧶design backlog, and this lovely little piece is first.

We popped up to the Hill of Tara (seat of the High Kings of Ireland fadó fadó), and it's just lovely to see the Síle still being honoured like this.

Ireland may be modern, now, but we don't forget our roots

This is not the skirt shape I'll be using, but I think a bodice looks more at home with some sort of skirt attached.

So, this is where I left off yesterday.

The darts on the right are inside out 💀 but the shape is good, so I'm happy.

Later, I'll sew the side seams, try it on, and adjust. 🧶🪡👗
A light blue/teal dress pinned to a maroon mannequin dress form. It has a v-neck and a wrap-around bodice, which I hope will mean it's adjustable on the day of the wedding if I eat a little too much! I'm also going with the wrap-around style as it adds texture to the front, so my medical insulin pump won't disrupt the outline. 🤔💡

This, by the way, is very much me designing the dress & trying out draping for the first time.

I've taken my first fabric draft, traced it onto brown paper, and added a 2 cm seam allowance all the way around. I err on the side of too much fabric.

I then cut those pieces out. Eeeeeeh!
Brown paper, with pencil tracing etched into it. I'm using a 2 cm-wide nail file to add a seal allowance. Paper pieces cut out and arranged on a wooden table.

Today is my birthday!

I popped her out on one of my baby trees in the warmth. She fluttered and settled.

My tester calls are pure chaos, for one thing, and I communicate - at best - sporadically.

LOOK AND MARVEL AT MY ENTIRELY BLUELESS BLUE TIT!

Usually, blue tits have a cute wee blue cap on their heads and a green hue to the feathers on their backs, but this tiny guy is grey in his head, and his back is a duller colour. He must have been born without the blue-pigment making gene, and he is officially my favourite bird.
