It'll be a party every week with Cory in the House!

The 2008 tie-in game for Nintendo DS is tied for second on Metacritic by user ratings, behind only Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. https://bit.ly/458jWIC

Looks like the judge is feeling the spooky vibes! 🩸🐦‍⬛🩸

Blood of Crow has been selected for the shortlist of the @unchartedmag.bsky.social‘s What the Wild Carries contest! Totally honored to have made it this far with my short, bloody story. 💙📚✍️

Finally catching up on Stranger Things and WOW, the first season is strong. From the three classic horror storylines (kids find an oddball, teens find a monster, adults find a shadowy org) to some legitimately terrifying moments (the alphabet wall light sequence), it rocks!

Stranger Things seasons 1 and 2 feel like “book 1”, and 4/5 feels like “book 2”, with 3 as the connecting tissue.

Just finished season 2 again and the show could end right here. All the stories are tied off, including a classic teen romance ending of wistful acceptance.

“Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo” is a work of homonymous art. What other words work as city names, verbs, and plural nouns? Trout? Pants?

“Pants pants Pants pants pants pants Pants pants”

I think I just found the subtitle for my memoir.

Absolutely floored to have not one but two of my novel excerpts selected for the longlist of the @unchartedmag.bsky.social What the Wild Carries contest last week! Here’s hoping the judge is looking for either spooky or beach bum vibes this winter! 💙📚📝

What’s the best place to hunt for open excerpt/short story submission calls? I’ve been using ChillSubs and the Submission Grinder; am I missing a big one with a lot of activity?

Okay, watching The Martian in honor of how much I love Project Hail Mary so far and I think I just really, really dig Andy Weir’s style.

A good story’s really intoxicating and I’m buzzing in my chair just watching this killer flick. Top marks!

Reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and just realizing that I don’t dislike math and physics in novels—I just don’t like boring math and physics in novels. Absolutely glued to the pages of this one!

Looking for strong opinions:

When using fake words borrowed from a language that differs from the main language of a text, is it better to lean into the original language, or anglicize them for the sake of readability?

I think something we don't appreciate enough as a society is that for the majority of human history hearing a particular piece of music was only possible if you could find someone in a public place/event playing it, owned an instrument/knew it yourself, or were rich and could employ a musician.
