Nope. The only character that was aged up out of the main group was Egwene. All of the boys are the same age as their book counterparts, 19-20.

Yeah the books are painfully bioessentialist at times when in reality with how most people understand "masculine and feminine energies" these days people would have BOTH in them to varying degrees, yeah.

I would honestly be really really interested in reading that fanfic! The fanfic that is on ao3 for this fandom has been... pretty disappointing.

Yeah, what makes sense for me, is that the One Power kind of ...corresponds to a person's soul not necessarily their physical body 🤷♀️ There's studies that show trans people have the brain structures of their identifying gender, IRL. So that makes sense, IMO.

Yeah I think fans were a little bit worried because when they were recommending that actress as being on the show they were thinking that she would be cast in a different role than what she ended up being cast as! That's kind of what the panic was, I think.

Also the children in current day in the story CONSTANTLY make fun of his hair and his nose/facial features... That shit is NOT going to translate well now that it's a black man they are doing it to, honestly. 😬

And from his interviews he's going to find SOME way to bring her back in the future maybe for a single episode or something. But she was not wanting to stay on the cast long term, seemingly. After scheduling conflicts in season 2, I can understand why.

And so writing in her death sooner than it is in the source material and making it significantly SIGNIFICANTLY more impactful... Was actually a good narrative choice. Better than her end in the books... at least that people can agree on!

But even still I can acknowledge that that is just a RUMOUR that is floating around. I don't think it has been confirmed anywhere officially. So it wasn't that he knew he was going to kill Siuan in season 3... It was that he potentially knew from the beginning she was going to be leaving after S3.

Yeah I have NOT seen people say that it was decided before casting. I've heard people say that it was decided after Sophie was casted because she had a 3 season contract with no renewal wanted and so he KNEW he had THAT long with her. And so they talked about how she was going to leave from the jump

In my opinion it wasn't any more brutal and gory than ANY of the other deaths we've seen in the show and it's source material accurate! Whereas the other gory deaths ...haven't necessarily been. But this one technically was. It was horrible but had purpose.

I understand that the visual of her beheaded was gory and horrifying. But I think it was an important detail because it is book accurate. That is what happens to dark friends in the White Tower. Beheading. it's an important detail, IMO. Important to show, honestly.

I mean in season 3 they have a trans woman in the White Tower in episode 8... So we have to assume that she can channel Saidar, not Saidin.

But yeah the bottomline is that Rafe and Sophie BOTH AGREED that this was the time for Siuan to leave the series and not when she does in the source material. If they were both happy with the decision that's really all that matters, IMO!!! We can be upset but it was not our decision to make.

They also had pretty big scheduling conflicts regarding her in season 2 and she was only in a single episode... I don't blame them for not wanting to have to deal with that every single season. 🤷♀️ She's busy! It was probably super fucking stressful for no reason, ya know?

He was open about a BUNCH of other things inspiring him but yeah he did push back against the Dune inspiration questions so he didn't think that it was an influence even though some people can see that it might have been.

Yeah a lot of people see Dune vibes!!! I do think it's important to mention though that Robert Jordan said that he was not inspired by Dune when writing the books... There are some parallels but he denied them so...

Yeah, unfortunately they drag it out until the end of the 2nd season...but for good reasons and I think it was REALLY hard hitting emotionally and I absolutely LOVE their connection too. But yeah... It's not a "fix at the first episode of the next season" issue.

In this specific instance good IMO... Because it means that the show is pulling off foreshadowing correctly. There is bad ways to do foreshadowing and good ways... and the show has been doing it well!

Yeah Rafe has said that it's literally just better material to work with this season. There are no NEW writers or anything added on into the crew. It's just better source material to work with. That's it. That's why it's working better.
