Uh, hey. So I moved to Serbia, and perhaps it's time to move away from Xwitter, or at least spend less time there.

I'm Anton, a former filmmaker and screenwriter and now a narrative designer. I'm writing a book on narrative design together with @natahq.bsky.social, out at CRC Press in 2025 or so.

Now I can say what I’m working on: our public alpha playtest is now live. Even if you don't like tanks, join us for some fast-paced hero action in a techno-optimistic alt timeline! It's early days, but you can get a sense of what's coming. Activate using code CWALPHA2 at wargaming.net till March 2.

Yeah, we're very curious, esp. if you're working with a bigger team.
Fellow narrative designers, how did you advocate, explain, and promote the value of narrative in your games to the team, especially in non-narrative driven projects?

Internal social media? Workshops? Anything else?

Also, @natahq.bsky.social and I are integrating @inkle.co's Ink into a relatively big commercial project, so if anyone has any experience with larger / non-indie Ink productions, we'd love to chat!

I’m with @jon.inkle.co on this; we could do a lot better in video games. My filmmaking background helps me to at least try and write more succinctly and on point, while also being less expository. Whenever I see a brief, evocative, poetic line of text that makes sense and matters, I’m quietly happy.
I’ll try this again.

The NYT interviewed me about writing, inkle, the purpose of the work.

There’s also a ragebait lede. Don’t rage; move on; touch the grass; eat a cookie. If you disagree then maybe you don’t care and that’s okay.
A Video Game Writer’s Lament: ‘We Can Do Quite a Lot Better’ (Gift Article)
Jon Ingold, an author of celebrated narrative-driven games, thinks the industry fails to celebrate good writing or recognize it as a craft.

Twinklified my new apartment in downtown-ish Belgrade. Still a bit lonely, but now with blinkenlights!

Went to a Serbian Games Association meetup and it was a blast — after a bunch of very good pitches I found myself barhopping with jolly Serbs and some local Russian colleagues, eventually ending the evening with jokes, beer, and new acquaintances. I'm really hoping to find my new home here.

If there are apparatchiks, then there might be narrativschiks as well. NDs of Slavic / Eastern European / ex-USSR origin with English as a second language?
