London mayor Sadiq Khan, one of the most powerful Labour politicians in the country, has called on the UK government to immediately recognise the Palestinian state.
MAYOR OF LONDON The absolutely harrowing scenes of suffering in Gaza are being made worse by the day, with no sign of the crisis abating. Starving children searching hopelessly for food in the rubble. Family members shot dead by Israeli soldiers as they search for aid. In heartbreaking scenes, innocent lives are being torn apart before the eyes of the world. The international community - including our own government - must do far more to pressure the Israeli government to stop this horrific, senseless killing and let vital life-saving aid in. Nothing justifies the actions of the Israeli government. The UK must immediately recognise Palestinian statehood. There can be no two state solution if there is no viable state left to call Palestine. Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan

The internal borders of Europe are overlapping layers of history — territories that have transformed over time and encounters that have continuously redefined the continent’s contours, each carrying traces of past configurations. In this space, the past does not entirely disappear, it blends with the present, creating a continuum of permanence and change. From the observation of the border territories within the European Union, not the borders of 'us' versus 'them', Heaven does not seek to provide definitive answers about the concept of Europe and what it means to be European. Antonio Pedrosa é um fotógrafo que vive e trabalha no Porto. Mantém uma constante produção no campo da fotografia documental e os seus temas exploram questões de iniquidade social e de relacionamento com o território. Em 2014 fundou o COLECTIVO, uma plataforma dedicada à experimentação na fotografia documental. Os seus projectos são regularmente publicados em revistas e jornais internacionais.
