How can we quantify cell potency from scRNAseq data?
In our latest preprint, we show that intrinsic dimensionality (ID) tracks potency in single cells across reprogramming datasets, and we provide IDEAS, a Python toolkit for ID-based potency analysis: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Intrinsic dimensionality of single-cell transcriptomic data reveals potency landscapes during cell reprogramming
Cell potency, the ability of a cell to generate other cell types, is a fundamental property that drives development, regeneration, and reprogramming. Recent computational advances have en- abled estim...

NEW PAPER ALERT!!

🥚And a new powerful tool for modeling early human development!

@antonio-scialdone.bsky.social ’s lab @www.helmholtz-munich.de & A. Surani’s lab at University Cambridge uncover key insights into early #humandevelopment with 3D human #gastruloids.

Read our news: shorturl.at/7FjGT
Here’s our latest study on human gastruloids:
www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

With the Surani lab, we combine imaging, scRNA-seq and genetic perturbation to investigate the emergence of amnion-&PGC-like cells.
Congrats to Jitesh Neupane, Gabriele Lubatti and all co-authors for their great work!

Why do some cells resist nuclear reprogramming? Using nuclear transfer, we tracked single-cell fate changes in vivo and uncovered cell-type-specific barriers to reprogramming. Suppressing the old identity boosts success!

✨ Excited to share my latest preprint on how H3K4 methylation promotes transcriptional memory from gametes to embryos across a transcriptionally silent window — crucial for proper zygotic genome activation and development. 🐸🧬✨

📄 Check it out here:

👇 Highlights below
H3K4 methylation-promoted transcriptional memory ensures faithful zygotic genome activation and embryonic development
In the life of a vertebrate embryo, gene expression is initiated for the first time at zygotic genome activation (ZGA). Maternally expressed transcription factors present in the embryo are essential f...
