We became a convenient scapegoat and a target for racial hate. While U.S. forces went off to fight fascism, we became the victims of a fascist program right here at home. They built barbed wire, militarized camps to hold over 120,000 of us for the duration of the war. /2

We lost our homes, our businesses, and our livelihoods. It was a devastating time.

Today I hear echoes of that time in the plans of the Trump administration. They want to round up and deport millions of undocumented migrants and deploy the military and build detention camps to carry this out. /3

As someone who spent his childhood in such camps, I implore you: We must not let history repeat.
