It was hard to miss the story about the what Melbourne CBD's anti-genocide protests allegedly costs in police resources.

We look into who 'broke' that story, where that figure came from, the timing of the release of such a figure and how outlets like the ABC ran with it with little interrogation

Sometimes - for no reason at all - I look back at what the former ABC chair Ita Buttrose said during this front cover story for Stellar magazine.

Justice Rangiah in his own words in Lattouf v ABC penalty decision.

The broadcaster has been ordered to pay $150,000. I was previously awarded $70,000 for hurt and distress.

ABC has spent in excess of $2 million on legal fees.

The real cost to Aunty is immeasurable.

The Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah at the centre of the censorship and pro-Israel lobbying controversy that devastated the Bendigo Writers Festival gets her opinion piece pulled by The Age at the last minute …why?

We put that question to The Age and are yet to hear back.

When are our media & arts institutions going to grow a back bone and not be spooked by lobbyist letters making vexatious and defamatory claims. Have we learned nothing ? Are these institutions more concerned about cranky letter writers than war crimes they seek to distract from?

Instead of honouring our brave Palestinian journalist colleagues including Al Jazeera’s Anas Al-Sharif killed in Gaza, much of the media repeated - nay led - with the Israeli line that they were “terrorists” despite a complete lack of evidence.

We pull apart this tired narrative

Gotta say I really enjoyed* reading ABC management’s memo to staff about the “hunger crisis inside Gaza”. Vaguely reminds me of what HRW said in Dec 2023 about starvation being used as a tool of war.
Seems starving civilians stop being too controversial & spicey for the aunty?
