…and I hope it will bring out the ecstatic, transcendental elements of the work - which so often remains trapped inside the harrowing circumstances of its composition and first performance in a Nazi camp in 1941.

Messiaen was of course an incredible improviser, notably as organist of Église de la Sainte-Trinité, Paris for 61 years. Combining the Quartet for the End of Time with improvisations by genius musicians Jon Hopkins, Leo Abrahams and Maddie Ashman seems only natural…

…if your project is happening between 27.08.25 and c.16.11.25 you can’t apply. For any organisations who are typically funded this way, and who work to regular timetables (eg festivals) this means making up £££££ shortfall in expected/possible funding at next to no notice. (Cont.)

…as I understand it, this means anyone with projects happening SOONER than eg 8 weeks beyond the point where it’s up and running again will have no chance to submit an application - you can’t apply for something happening before you’ll have heard back. So (cont.)
