Well, they also adjusted their player protection strategy to do away with the never ending player pressing and sprinting back to defend by forwards. They treat salah like Messi for example.

Staying in the top 4 is the goal and will be a fight. I don’t think we can quite pivot to feeling any points are a bonus.

This year it doesn’t seem like the first part of your statement is true. Rarely have our back 4 been collectively at the level they reached last season. We give up 1-2 goal opportunities and we concede.

On a negative note think of how the lack of rotation is going to tee up guys like Rice next for hamstring or other muscle injuries. We’re running the gas tank to empty on these guys’ legs year after year.

It’s easy for us to point out mistakes with the result in the mirror. But to me it seemed off to sit MLS when it can be argued he has been our best player. And another match where Cala looked like a runway model but struggled to defend (on the cross) and was beat for pace regularly once more.

Well. The difference is we dont have a striker who projects to be ready to graduate to the academy to the first team. And we currently don’t have an out and out striker at all in the first squad. Neto was another winger when we have wingers.

Well to me, it only doesn’t help us if it means it is mutually exclusive toward signing someone else (like Tel) now. Plus, destabilizing Villa a bit doesn’t hurt us.

Maybe that’s the point. Maybe it’s to unsettle them a bit and drive down the price for the summer by making it public that Watkins is wanted. Maybe it helps Ollie push a bit to be let go in the summer if he’s a good soldier until then.
