I'm starting to wonder if this isn't part of the point make a horriblely bad EV. Sell that EV at a ridiculously high price;but then do stuff so horrible that people refuse to buy the EV. End goal tarnish EV sales so bad no one wants to buy ANY EV.

I think you hit the nail on the head as to why some people are MAGA. I also saw Rationality Rules video about why people who weren't MAGA voted for T-Rump and I think its a combination of both that caused this problem.
