In 1988 when he ran against Bush, Mike Dukakis was mocked for a photo of him in a tank with a helmet on as if it was some implausible thing for such a professorial man. In reality, he had enlisted in the United States Army in 1955. He served in South Korea. In fact, he spent 16 months at the DMZ.

My Sophie had a sudden health crisis yest & this one was too much for her. I had to let her go today. She was the best cuddle buddy, full of purrs & biscuit making. I never bonded with a pet like this before. I held her in my arms while she left me & cried my eyes out.

Alice would bring over a 6 pack of beer & Groucho & he would drink beer & watch old movies on TV until Groucho nodded off.
Groucho passed away in 1977 at 86.
