This still counts as the same mistake.
Actors who sing: HARD BOILED/FULL CONTACT/NOW YOU SEE LOVE, NOW YOU DON’T edition.
I found two CDs today, one from Chow Yun-Fat (and allegedly signed by him) and one from Anthony Wong. I’m going to let Mr. Chow sing me to sleep though, Wong’s style is a bit more aggressive.

Got Kung Fu Hustled!

Dim sum in Hong Kong: how clichéd…and fucking delicious.
November 20, 2025 at 11:54 PM
It looks like I waited too long to catch the 20th anniversary rerelease of Stephen Chow’s KUNG FU HUSTLE and now my last option is one screening an hour away by train AND bus in HK’s New Territories. Guess I’ll make it a double with Louis Cheung’s new boxing drama GOLDEN BOY.

They’re not as plentiful as they used to be but I still found some cool laserdiscs at the outdoor market on Ap Liu Street.

Good morning from the carpark in A BETTER TOMORROW.

Now seated for my first movie in Hong Kong: AGAINST ALL ODDS (營救飛虎).

Good morning from Hong Kong.

I know I’m a glutton for punishment but I’m still planning to watch SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT when I’m in HK. I still have a few more days to do so, so I’ll prioritize the Taiwanese thriller 96 MINUTES and a rare screening of PAINTED FACES.

If you’re in Hong Kong in December or January, know that the HK Film Critics Society is holding screenings in tribute to the late film historian David Bordwell. A great opportunity to see films like INFERNAL AFFAIRS and SHAOLIN SOCCER in 35mm or A HERO NEVER DIES and more on the big screen.

2nd & Charles: where failed movie and TV tie-ins find new life.
(NGL, I kinda like the Al Simmons/Michael Jai White action figure)
November 10, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Anyhow, I found PREDATOR: BADLANDS to be a lot of fun.
But you know, three dots from a Plasmacaster to my forehead, I kinda liked all of the Predator movies to varying degrees.
November 9, 2025 at 5:21 AM
I’m still trying to make it out for Nick Cheung’s psychological thriller PEG ‘O MY HEART but there’s only one screening daily and always after 10 pm.

NOBODY (浪浪山小妖怪): China’s highest-grossing 2D animated film follows 4 low-level monsters striving for fame by pretending to be the pilgrims of “Journey to the West” and becoming heroes in unexpected ways. Funny and heartfelt, decent animation though overall I still like THE LEGEND OF HEI 2 more.
November 9, 2025 at 3:30 AM
Got my bauble and now seated for PREDATOR: BADLANDS.
November 7, 2025 at 1:01 AM
VIOLENT ENDS: the downfall of an Arkansas crime family is telegraphed right in the title but the journey there is still worth taking thanks to a solid cast from lead Billy Magnussen to James Badge Dale, oozing scuzzy menace even when berating a henchman an “incestuous donut hole”.
November 6, 2025 at 9:05 PM
I’ve worked it out.
Plotting my return to the 852.

Movies are great, I get to put my phone down for hours at a time and not doomscroll thinking about how I haven’t received a full paycheck in over a month.
