Anyway... Europe in general has done so many nice things. It's a much better cared for continent than America imo. Europeans themselves don't often try to educate Americans because they know they won't see or understand it.

As for cost, you can literally just google something like this:
train amsterdam to zurich.
Then set the date out a few weeks and the cost comes down a lot. It's like a 100 bucks for like 8 hours with 2 transfers.

There are international trains, high speed trains, but in many cases you just have to transfer a few times. Transferring is pretty easy. Even if you miss a transfer, you usually don't need to wait long for the next train.
If you want to travel around a lot, there is the Euro rail pass !
