Advocating for animal welfare and non-animal methods to replace the use of animals in science and research
Great news from the University of Twente (NL): it’s closing its animal testing lab and investing in new research methods that can reduce the need for animal testing. Wonderful to see such progressive steps toward more ethical science.

Universiteit Twente sluit proefdierenlab vanwege bezuinigingen
In het lab worden proeven gedaan met muizen en ratten als er volgens onderzoekers geen andere methoden mogelijk zijn.

Inspiring words from the Commissioner @jessikaroswall.ec.europa.eu highlighting that the REACH revision will address animal testing an issue that is important to many citizens. "The Commission is committed to reducing its use, and we will foster non-animal methods in chemical safety assessments".

Is animal testing indeed used as a “last resort"? Unfortunately, no! Now with REACH being revised, the last resort requirement is more important than ever. What a pleasure working on this with @giorgiapallocca.bsky.social
Many thanks to @euractiv.com for publishing!

On World Animal-Free Research Day, we ask: Why is outdated #animalresearch still being used when better #science exists? The answer lies in funding—most resources still support traditional animal tests, despite their failures.

Support us on #WorldDayforLaboratoryAnimals today for all the animals who suffer for science. Help us to promote #non-animalmethods and #ScienceWithoutSuffering !
Testing #chemicals on #animals often involves giving a group of mice, guinea pigs and other species, higher and higher doses until 50% of them die, just to estimate the amount that might be safe for people. ☠️🐭🚫 It’s cruel and unnecessary.

A common data platform to bring data and information aiming for more transparent, easily findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable. Reported adopted by @europarl.europa.eu
The @europarl.europa.eu
voted on the Common data platform on #chemicals, establishing a monitoring and outlook framework for chemicals, which is part of the One Substance One Assessment (OSOA). Find out why this is important: www.linkedin.com/posts/humane...

Everyone is talking about NAMs, but what do we mean by that? Whether we talk about non-animal methods or new approach methodologies we need to ensure that we are building an animal-free science world.
