The European Parliament has adopted a resolution regarding the human rights situation in #Iran today, demanding to stop executions and to release all political prisoners, which I negotiated for the Greens: bit.ly/Iran_Resolut...

This expansion marks a long-awaited response to years of advocacy from survivors, victims' families, and human rights defenders. Both, within Iran and in exile. The Mission is now able to investigate not only the 2022 protests but also other grave human rights violations. bit.ly/4iPG8fa 2/6

The resolution was adopted with 24 votes in favour, 8 against, and 15 abstentions. The expanded mandate includes the collection, analysis, and preservation of evidence for future legal proceedings, including under universal jurisdiction, ensuring accountability for violations. 3/6

In its 2024 and 2025 reports, the Fact-Finding Mission concluded that the Iranian authorities committed crimes against humanity, including:
