Have I misunderstood trade deficits?
If I often buy lots of beer from a bar, but the owner never buys anything from me, then I am in a trade deficit situation vis-à-vis the bar.
Does that mean the bar owner is mean and I should impose a reciprocal tariff on his beer? Just asking for a President!
