Beach Bowl is a more open area, which produces interesting moments like this vine here. Aside from collecting stray Star Bits, it's a mechanic wholly irrelevant to the level design -- you just swing full-circle for the thrill of it.

Galaxy's when 3D Mario begins fully embracing the "obstacle course" design of the 2D games, but the "playground" philosophy of 64/Sunshine's translated into intermittent moments like this.

Some point out how Galaxy stripped down Mario's movement in lieu of gravity, but while it doesn't flex its muscles the way 64 or Odyssey do, I find said gravity as mindbending as any speedrun.
