I made so much zapekanka that my wife and kids held an intervention to make me stop! They just couldn’t eat anymore.

Lifeway farmers cheese is great. They also make the kefir I buy. If only they made Eastern European style sour cream too…

Look at the ID.4. It’s about the size you are describing. I’ve found it comfortable with two kids + stuff. It’s the most “normal” BEV and lacks the Star Trek like interior that others have.

This is the most optimistic thing I’ve ever read from Ed, whom I’ve been reading since 2014 (at least).

I couldn’t make the protests but driving by them today and honking/cheering the folks out made things better for me as well. Im glad for this.

Isn’t this more like День Армии? Still sucks in comparison to the real deal, of course.

Great for complex Excel models. Also great for reading lots of contracts and pulling out particular language for review. I’ve also used LLMs to give summaries of technical accounting issues.

I knew Central Asia gave us apples but not tulips. I’m going to have to go down a Wikipedia tunnel to see what other plants come from there!

When Yukos was sold after Khodorkovsky went to prison, a business located above a pizza shop in Tver was the buyer. This deal reeks of that.

I called and left a VM with Warner’s office in the hope that he will vote to defend his constituents.

Yes this. Setting aside how horrible it is what DOGE is doing, what does this mean for the creditworthiness of the government? For future pricing of goods and services, especially if companies can’t trust USG to pay its bills?

Rubio actually did grant waivers (I’ve seen them) but what he/Marocco didn’t do was resume cash flow for those programs. And then in the cancellations last week they cut programs they had previously given waivers too. It was all theater and lies.

Totally agree. The only thing that makes sense to me is they are cancelling so many contracts to ensure that orgs don’t have the resources to sue on each contracting. In my case, though, we aren’t being paid for pre SWO, pre term, and COs aren’t available to negotiate equitable adjustments.

Tax law also requires these to be submitted after the close of each fiscal year. If they are not submitted after a certain period, the organization loses its tax exempt status. I’m curious whether that might be a plus from DOGE’s point of view.

What I don’t understand is how there are no consequences for the government’s violating the clear terms and conditions in each contract as well as procurement law. Set aside politics, if the government can’t follow contract law, how can it function?

It’s the first stanza above. This is Wikipedia’s translation, not my own. (I am a Russian speaker and think it’s a wonderful language but that’s another topic altogether.)

Russia is our sacred state,
Russia is our beloved country.
A mighty will, great glory –
Your dignity for all time!

Plus, in most of these cases, the funds do not go directly to the host-country government. The voluntary male circumcision kits purchased by a US contractor and then shipped to Mozambique for distribution to health centers. The only US funds that go directly to Moz are for local shipping agents.
