Gotta stop those divorced dad vibes if you wanna avoid a bit of casual misandry. @theguardian.com arts pages are an embarrassing train wreck these days

You gotta love it when performative politics spirals and disappears into its own rank interior. One empty gesture begets another and another while the nation suffers.

Guess your dreams always end.
They don't rise up just descend.

“ I don’t feel ready to offer an argument for or against the nation state as a site of justice …”

But in The Ecology Politic we did (great forum here too)

Questions for @fossiltreaty.bsky.social

Is the dedicated negotiating forum going to be located in the general assembly and have a 2/3 voting rule?

Have states been given the option of staging the phase out of fossil fuels? First coal, then oil and gas asap thereafter?

In 1944, the world breathed a sigh of relief that the Nazi nuclear program had stalled. Has international society considered the risks of fascism & nuclear weapons now?

Given Russia and Israel’s indiscriminate use of air power, states must urgently arrest the unraveling of the arms control system.

It’s not every day you wake to hear some truly stupid and evil humans have condemned your home planet to die.

For a few billion dollars.

No one told me about this growing up.

I’m reading James Gleick’s great biography that begins with Shannon and Turing.

There was a time when information was not a concept. Now look at the mess we’re in.

I’m a political philosopher in a film. Yeah, it’s a pretty obscure film. I work inside a building with gargoyles rather than some bleak 60s office tower. I’m haunted by knowledge only I have, cut to two creepy guys in suits waiting in a black trabant. The script may or may not be Kafka.

Saw another American book about climate politics with a white lady talking of hope in the blurb.

I don’t need hope. I need an end to lies, distortions, waffle and bs. From states at the COPs. From the mainstream climate movement. A world with information integrity and honesty might inspire hope.

Just a shout out to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Talking overnight about defending UN personnel. You are all legends! And my favourite UN leader ever.

Watching Wong and Albanese talk, mainlining their own BS, was sickening. Given record homelessness and rent stress, lack of dental and extended mental health in Medicare, the destruction of universities despite an inclusive plan, they are a neoliberal party pretending to be social democrats.

Now our battle of ideas is not just against the right but the centre, where climate grift rules. Do we want to change the world or get that next opportunity? It’s a race…
