Watching the Superman trailer, the first thing we see of this new Superman is him Yamcha-ed on the ground and I'm all for it. I really hope that this new movie is good 💀

A skeleton performing a barbell back squat with approximately 100kgs (two 20kg plates on each side plus the 20kg bar) with very respectable technique (hips under knees showing full depth, and a good upright back/posture and balance showing adequate ankle mobility and core stability). All of this (combined with the perceived notion of using a good hypertrophy-inducing tempo on the lift) gives the impression of the skeleton putting maximum effort into the movement with the clear goal of maximizing progress in mind. This image combined with the audience projecting themselves or a part of themselves onto the skeleton, adds to the reliability of this meme. The skeleton is wearing the hat that Ash Ketchum wears in the Pokemon animated series, indicating that pokemon is the subject. The text then reads "My body is a machine that turns a children's card game into a gambling addiction". Referencing the smash hit Pokemon TCG Pocket (or the traditional card game if people have more experience with that). The joke highlights the addictive nature of collecting these virtual/real cards and the slippery slope toward addiction even with something primarily designed for children. This highlights a more systemic problem in a capitalist-centric video game and content-driven culture where the extracting and exploiting of the most amount of attention or dollars from the mass population is not just encouraged but mandatory for survival. Another layer of the joke for those that see it is that this is already widely known and accepted as a core part of our society that is unchangeable by us (the common citizen), while we still acknowledge the fact that the people of our society that do have the power to change such an exploitative culture are exactly the ones that benefit from the exploitation. Therefore they are incentivised to maintain the status quo and in fact, try to squeeze out as much wealth as possible to benefit themselves without angering the masses into an organized movement.
