Here in Australia we have proportional representation where you vote 1, 2, 3 etc from favourite candidate down. Also if there is a deadlock or govt supply bill is blocked twice then everybody, house and senate are all up for reelection. Works well.

You should also have a "no fuck off never fucking again" option for your vote. If any person gets 10% of the possible votes in an electorate they can never stand for any election anywhere ever again.
