Progressives believe that education is about critical thinking, and the information one takes in is to be analyzed, questioned, and weighed against other information and ultimately a judgment made.

School is about critical thinking. Church is about indoctrination.

Conservatives think of education as one being presented and filled with information which leads to “indoctrination” to whatever is being presented because the student is not to question it.
