Trump is now President of the United States and attempting to distract from and block the release of any and all documents that would reveal the men who participated in Epstein's abuse and trafficking scheme. Trump's FBI tasked approximately 1,000 agents with identifying where in the documents Trump was named. Trump and Vance campaigned heavily on releasing the Epstein files but, since taking office in January 2025, have blocked release of additional information and begun threatening people who continue to seek answers and transparency. Notably, victims of Jeffrey Epstein have come out publicly in support of releasing the documents. A majority of Republicans in Congress continue to shield Donald Trump and protect child abuser and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein by refusing to vote to force the release of the Epstein files, suggesting that such Republicans in Congress might have been involved directly themselves or that they are perhaps aware of sexually abusive illegal activities of Trump or other powerful political and wealthy individuals. Republicans have, therefore, become the party known for sheltering child abusers and sex traffickers.
