In places with active conflict and post-conflict environment, even the word “peace” is perceived with resistance and pain, and we carry strong responsibility when using this term, and when engaging in peace work... We concluded that peace comes through "coexistence, indigenization and redemption."

We addressed current challenges within existing educational frameworks (both formal and nonformal), examining how the structures can evolve to better meet local needs. Our conversations centered on localizing the essence of peace&fostering environment where we can unlearn violent modes of education.

I had the privilege of participating in a panel dedicated to peace education both as an anti-war activist and researcher from South Caucasus as well as within my capacities at #PeaceEdu project. The plenary and breakout sessions contributed to this discussion towards directions such as pluralities of peace, feminist visions of peace, decolonizing methods, peace education and, agency and mediation within evolving multipolarity.

Our excellent keynote speaker Swati Parashar kickstarted the discussions with a very strong critical take on the need of using intersectionality, decolonial and postcolonial lenses in our research and practical work.
