FFMP cannot be described as milk in Europe. Instead, Ireland exports it mostly to West Africa – between 2021-2024, Ireland exported >400,000 tonnes of FFMP to West Africa.

Higher priced butter and cream are mostly sent to Europe and the US.

Fat-filled milk powder (FFMP) is made from skimmed milk powder (a by-product of butter and cream) and vegetable fats.

Irish companies are using social media and influencers to market it as healthy, especially for children. But experts describe it as “nutritionally mediocre” and “low quality”.
