The thing with New Trek is that it's waaay too often done poorly, written with little nuance and an abundance of unearned, heightened drama that's but wrapped in what might be the best looking TV shows ever made.

"More woke" is a ludicrous take, hard agree: GOOD sci-fi should include current societal issues and either highlight the absurdity of them from a point of view where they've been resolved, or to confront the issues and have your characters navigate them... packaged in a future that could be ours.
