Dog catcher, leaf collector, has a numb left ankle. Apparently has a 'can do' attitude but can't be arsed in general. Can make a great nut roast / sweet n sour tofu if asked.
This collection of videos has kept me sane throughout the heatwave, although the amount of times I've winced in pain at some of the examples may make onlookers think otherwise.

The run from Heart Of Darkness to Song Of The Bailing Man (despite Art Of Walking being meh), then the run from Raygun Suitcase to St Arkansas (plus the first three solo albums). Never a dull moment in the big lad’s career of Chernobyl-esque garage rock, but this is the one for me.

RIP Mr Thomas

There wasn’t much at the record fair today (no sign of Bacdafucup or Cranked Up Really High) but got these so all’s well.

Despite one being an artiste heavily engrossed in one’s work, I still had time to make fried cauliflower in homemade BBQ sauce, plus lemon and herb potato salad on the side. It’s a generous portion because I skipped lunch.

I had to take 10 days of annual leave, so in order to stop myself going mad, this is the result...80% of it anyway (a bit of tidying and two more tracks were added this weekend). A bit of melody, a bit of fuzz, a bit of drone and plenty of farting about with electronics. Only a fiver.

Don't let those Monday blues get to you. Remember that raccoon dogs and cloud rats exist.

Who says Sundays have to be calm and relaxing? Why not dive deep into a transgressive double bill of Successive Slidings Of Pleasure (directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet) and The Image (based on the novel by Catherine Robbe-Grillet). Let’s push boundaries while others are chilling.

Wahey! It’s arrived! Stephen Thrower’s soundtrack to a film directed by David McGillivray and written by ‘a noble gentleman of the stage and screen with a fondness for tight bottoms in corduroy’. One spin of this and the pulsating electronic rhythms won’t be the only thing throbbing ;)

It’s been a busy week, food-wise: antipodean mushroom and lentil pie, falafels with quinoa and avocado, and chikar cholay with peshwari naan.

Today is a day of heavy riffs in celebration of the mintness of Brian James. All killer, no filler.

Brian James wrote pretty much all of the first two Damned albums. For "New Rose" alone his place in history would be huge. I met him at a punk anniversary event at Brighton Museum once and he was lovely. Very self-deprecating, and amazed I'd heard of his other band, Lords Of The New Church.

Bergerac is being reimagined for the telly, eh? Let’s go further and make this year Channel Island-tastic…bring back the Benest & Milbrook ads! That buff lad who got his nob out in Normal People would be ideal.

Pre-work thought: the negative effects of a moustache.

Hmm…while a few of them didn’t survive the complete process, these lentil koftas with coconut/tomato curry sauce taste phenomenal. The sauce kinda obscures the nice fried brown goodness hiding beneath but only in this picture.

Jerk jackfruit (that’s not code) with rice and peas (well, rice and kidney beans). Bursting with flavour, I may have finally been won over by this previously unmalleable fruit.

3LPs of heavy alchemy and righteous dub, not a single moment is wasted. Arkology is a great collection of Scratch’s Island era, but Open The Gate is far superior and less exhausting. It’s sprawling yet concise, and it has “Know Love” by Twin Roots on it. Every home should have one.

Never mind Spacemen 3, here’s Loop. Let the pudding bowl haired kids of Rugby play with their dirty needles while the grown ups kick out some heavy jams.
