Man I should finish my Black Vipers bladeguard veterans, even though I can’t run them as admech allies like I originally planned to in 9e (I miss imperial soup lists 😞)
A bladeguard veteran from Indomitus converted with the shoulder trims carved into cog-tooth, an aggressor helmet, and a cog in place of its iron halo. The same conversion on a different sculpt, although the cog as broken off. More clearly shown in this image is the modifications to the power sword made to look like something from the Adeptus Mechanicus range

11 years to finish a mini isn’t that long, right? 😅

Around the start of the year I started using my broadside from when I was a new hobbyist in ‘14 in games again, so I decided to give it a makeover.

Before: by my second year of painting, I had learned that you need to thin your paints and not just apply them straight from the pot. Had yet to figure out that more than one coat would be needed, and eventually the mini was abandoned and spent several years in a box somewhere. Front view of the same broadside battlesuit. Colours are now more solid and highlights are more steady thanks to having years to develop brush control and other skills my teenaged self didn’t have. Side view of the broadside battlesuit. No stripping or repriming went into this project; all of the original paintjob is preserved under new layers of paint. Left, my converted broadside completed in late 2019/early 2020. No longer will it mog on its older sibling, and both can proudly serve the Greater Good side by side for many more years.

Decided to snag a pic of my character aura farming after nailing a pinnacle landing over a comms tower and by pure luck I managed to capture an NPC flyover (a solar sailer being the lead ship is the cherry on top imo)

Tbh if I didn’t have so many projects going on already, I’d be tempted to make a custom mini using Shadowsun or Farsight as the base! They both certainly have the thighs and waspy waists to pull it off

What started as a tentatively upbeat undertaking in August 2020 turned into a 5 year quest to complete the set, and with the addition of @guyhaley.bsky.social latest tome I can finally say I have achieved that goal 😌
