Sure, but the whole problem is that we can't get policies like that because of the meat culture! Americans aren't going to vote for that and their representatives aren't going to push for it. A tech solution isn't gonna fix the social problem (although it could plausibly help a bit down the road)

It makes sense for "Eugenics" to be mostly history, but also the writer clearly wants to defend eugenics so I fee like she should just write the bioethics book she evidently wants to

If someone hasn't already switched to impossible/beyond burgers, I think there's a ~0% chance they're gonna switch to lab grown. Normies (overwhelmingly) have not switched to impossible/beyond

I do not see any evidence here that the Nazis discredited eugenics

And that's it! I mistakenly read "100ish results" as meaning there would be 100 different articles about eugenics, but it meant that the word "eugenics" was used 100ish times, so if an article used it twice that counted as two. And then it also counted the names "Eugene" and "Eugenia" as hits

(1/5 vs "a single" makes it sound like the difference was more dramatic than it was. Only 42 people were sterilized so one person is like 2%)

1951: the state eugenic board of of North Carlina set a new record for sterilizations. About 1/5 were black and there was a single indigenous person

involved needs to have good reasons to practice Rhythm. The interesting thing is one of the "good reasons" is: eugenics. Catholics are supposed to be one of the main opposers of eugenics, and so the fact that they would endorse eugenics as a good reason to practice Rhythm is very interesting

Very interesting! The Catholic Times, in 1960, ran a piece explaining the alleged (and incoherent) difference between the "natural" "rhythm" method of avoiding conception and the "unnatural" method of birth control. Rhythm is not necessarily ethical, they say. For it to be acceptable, the couple

So far, I gotta say, it is looking like mainstream opinion on eugenics was not really different in 1960 from what it was in 1930

1954, first Nazi reference I've come across. But! It refers to what the nazis did as done "under 'eugenic' pretexts." I take this to mean that the Arizona Post does not take this to be "real eugenics" at least to some degree
