Shitposting through the pain
Yeah that’s fair- I agree it’s worthwhile to look into this. Hopefully someone can dig up the original application or recommendation. To me it just seems like the dude was an opportunist with an inflated sense of self importance, and “application to largely meaningless commission” fits that MO

I mean it’s an unpaid position on a nonpartisan commission required by federal law. These commissions are always looking for members- most likely scenario is that he applied using his background in the food industry, and was taken on as a voice of that industry. Not really a conspiracy here

Excellent piece in the StarTribune this morning debunking a lot of this stuff better than I could www.startribune.com/fact-check-d...
Fact check: Was suspected assassin Boelter close with MN Gov. Walz?
Boelter was appointed to an advisory board in 2019, but one member says the board does not interact with the governor on a regular basis.

Hoping Boelter is apprehended soon, and we get more information as to his motive. In the meantime, ignore right wing accounts amplifying lies (15/15)
June 14, 2025 at 9:53 PM
There are many other plausible explanations for why he had them in his car other than being a violent leftist (throwing off authorities, plans to attack a protest, etc.) Without his manifesto, these cannot be automatically explained by protest support. (14/15)
June 14, 2025 at 9:53 PM
Claim: “Boelter had flyers for No Kings.” The “flyers” were pieces of printer paper with the words “No Kings” written/typed on them. They had no information on where/when protests would take place, nor were they official logos/text for No Kings. (13/15)
June 14, 2025 at 9:52 PM
He was also previously appointed by Mark Dayton (DFL). This is also a board that requests applications, meaning he was likely not sought out by Walz, and political affiliation was not something asked in the application. mn.gov/deed/gwdb/ab... (12/15)

Claim: “Boelter was appointed by Walz, so he is a Dem.” The Workforce Development Board is a nonpartisan group of 41 business leaders. Given Boelter’s work in the food sector (key in MN, where companies like Cargill and General Mills are located), this makes sense for non-nefarious reasons (11/15)

However, the CEO of MAU noted that Boelter only spoke at MAU (which makes sense given his business interests in the DRC), and was not connected to leadership. themetropolitan.metrostate.edu/dr-vance-boe... (10/15)

Claim: “Boelter was part of an NGO related to rights of African immigrants and refugees in Minnesota.” Boelter was in fact listed on the website of MN Africans United, an organization that provides support and services to African immigrants in Minnesota. (9/15)

If his motive were to “punish” Dems defecting, this set of facts doesn’t make sense. What makes more sense is Boelter going after pro-choice activists/lawmakers, given that his list also allegedly contained abortion providers. www.cnn.com/2025/06/14/u... (8/15)

Claim: “Boelter was motivated by Hortman’s vote on undocumented healthcare.” While it is true that Hortman voted with Republicans to strip healthcare from undocumented immigrants, the same cannot be said for Hoffman, nor does it explain the fact that 70 other names were on Boelter’s hit list. Fair enough. Tired of the misinformation and lies about my state that will only lead to more violence. Probably not worth it though
June 14, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Oh cmon… it was a meaningless bipartisan board. He was a holdover from the pre-Trump Dayton admin. The letter from Dayton was identical to the one from Walz, this was not someone who Walz had any real ties to. He was recently unemployed, swimming in RW misinfo, and likely self-radicalized recently
