pretty weak, you gotta explain that these guys cannot be held accountable and why they cannot, and idk maybe argue to abolish this agency

it kind of mirrors the classic reactionary “the enemy is both weak and impossibly strong” and there is a part of me that wonders why they don’t just argue we’ll see some incompetent attempt at election meddling. Why it gotta be “these guys are dumb and genius”

yeah, the point is that if people want to live in the suburbs, the cost of living in the suburbs should not be subsidized

preferences are not innate, they respond to material circumstances! and when the cost of the burb is artificially low then preferences respond accordingly

I’m not sure that we can completely disentangle consumer preferences from consumer circumstances (subsidies, zoning, affordability, “American dream”, etc..)

Can we make the case that the suburbs should not be subsidized even if that mode of living is popular?

these people are trying to apply Econ 101 sounding folksy wisdom, but completely ignoring that healthcare demand is inelastic

you aren’t buying shampoo, you are buying a financial instrument to protect against life shattering medical bills

I’d like to say I’m not surprised, but honestly i didnt expect that after a decade of no healthcare plan the republican healthcare plan would just be “no healthcare, fuck existing conditions to death”
