To make it easier, there's an option in the "Accessibility" section, "Require alt text before posting," that disables the post button until you add alt text to every image you upload in the post.
The BlueSky Accessibility options page. Under a section labeled "Alt text" are two options: "Require alt text before posting," which is on; and "Display larger alt text badges," which is on. The current post being written and the post it's replying to by Shmup STG Clips. The Reply button is disabled, with a notice saying "One or images is missing alt text." A notice on the bottom reads "Alt text describes images for blind and low-vision users, and helps give context to everyone." The post by Shmup STG Clips reads "Ah, thanks for reminding me! I need to get that into my system." The most Jared Leto stands out in my mind is this one fuckass edit a couple of us did in discord once

It's hard to really say how much it affected me overall, especially over ten years ago, but I can at least remember one specific thing.

Suddenly decided to finally play DRL (formerly Doom, the Roguelike) after knowing about it for years, there goes my first death.
