Ok I slept on it & then completely restarted the project. About 15 minutes of problem solving & I came up with a simple solution. I'd wanted the cards all across the bottom so you could pick which one, but this simple draw from the deck solution is at least functioning as intended!

Sizing and placement of the dialogue is weird, and it doesn't take input (although I did add an input func).

Thinking I might just delete all the dialogue stuff and try a different method...

Working on using y_sort so that the player walks behind object, success! Less success: clipping. Trying to figure out the solve for this when the objects are all multiple tiles and not one object, so changing the position/y location isn't fixing it.

Did some more work on the map before I have to go to actual work (that I get paid for...).

I didn't realize the tip top of the house at the end was missing until I screen recorded. 😅 It's fixed now!

A small amount of progress. 😊

I worked on getting basic character animations, terrains, & started building out the first map. (not sure abt the grass color)

I'm calling it a "short story." Plan is to build it like a D&D one shot-- a tight story with a satisfying resolution.
