I enjoyed the pitting of logic against spirituality that Danny Boyle spoke about in the Q&A after. Thank fuck they changed it from the original ending which was apparently 2 of the characters calmly playing chess as they plummeted into the sun

It’s an interesting and quite a stressful watch due to the stylistic directorial choices, I was gripped for the whole thing through what was ultimately quite a standard plot with at least a couple of holes

I enjoyed this, quite quickly bought into the quite dumb premise really of throwing a nuclear bomb into the sun to save humanity which is testament to Danny Boyle’s directing prowess

Having said this it is interesting to see the heterosexual stereotype of an older man ‘teaching’ a naive younger woman flipped on screen, exploring another side of female desire, however poorly this is executed

I don’t recognise older Catherine’s personality in young Catherine, it feels more like young Catherine is a stock character designed to highlight older Catherine’s feminine ‘shortcomings’

So far I’m not loving it to be honest. The first couple of eps were intriguing, but by the fourth/fifth, it begins to feel like a story demonising a caricature of avaricious female sexual desire and aligning this with poor motherhood
