That film also features my dear late friend Susie Tennant, the heart of the scene in the Hype! era. Along with Megan Jasper, Jennie Boddy, Kate Beclet and other rad women they were the lifeblood of the music everyone loves.

I was pretty amazed at how a white male director and white female star capture the feeling of Alberta Hunter's blues so very well. One of the most interesting music films I've ever seen, and yes I'm calling it a music film!
