Did my second Spartan Race last weekend, my first in the age group category. Won the bronze! Had a ton of fun; love training for these with my kids.

Picked this book up on a whim at Vault of Midnight, and had so much fun with my 11-year-old making our first batch of dumplings together. I wish more kids cookbooks were written like graphic novels!

Hundreds of people showed up for the #TeslaTakedown global day of action in Ann Arbor!

Had an awesome time at the #TeslaTakedown at Somerset Mall yesterday! Couldn't get a great pic, but there were over a hundred people around the corner.

Two of the speakers were focused on pancreatic cancer, and I learned that 5 year survival rates have nearly doubled since it killed my father a decade ago.

But like everyone else, they're facing funding cuts. I really hope we can find a way to protect federal funding for science research.

Took Friday off for #standupforscience2025 in Lansing, and I'm so glad I did! It was by far the most educational protest I have ever attended. Local scientists from diverse fields spoke about their work and how it helps people here in Michigan.

11-year-old and I are having so much fun with the Chibitronics Love to Code book. So neat to go back and forth between drawings and circuits and programs.

Hundreds of people came out to the Tesla Takedown protest in Ann Arbor today! I couldn't get a photo that captures how far this stretched.

I did heart cast iron cookies for the kids but used way too much dough!

@sia.codes and I actually visited the KattenKabinet before perfnow a few years ago!

Being a parent right now is so weird because it's just interspersed with stuff like "oh it's gonna be a snow day Thursday, gotta make valentine's with the kids!"

Ugh, two more fake accounts impersonating me! Please block and report.

Second, I know there are tons of Uno Reverse cards on Makerworld, but he really wanted to design his own! He drew it in Illustrator, imported into Hueforge, exported STL and then printed in Bambu studio. Anyone know how to avoid the lines appearing wobbly like this?

First off, the prime tower overlapped the print on the larger print. We didn't see this in the preview in Bambu Studio. Does anyone know of an easy way to prevent this? Sorry this image is super blurry; he sanded the print down before I could get a photo.

We got a #bambulabs 3D Printer with an AMS for Christmas and my kid is super excited about making his own 3D printed images! I got our filaments into #Hueforge and he got up and running fast!

But we have some questions! Posting them here in case I know someone who's good with Hueforge.

10-year-old says he designed the roof of his house to be "like a brainstorm."

Many years ago I got a set of cookie cutters for gingerbread houses. Every few years I forget how hard it is to bake and assemble them and host a big gingerbread decorating party.

This year's stats: planned for 6 kids, made dough for 9 houses, was able to cut 7 from the dough, successfully built 6.

Anyone know of good YouTube channels for solving Rubik's cubes? My 10-year-old searched up videos and taught himself to solve the 3x3 and the pyraminx, but he's stuck on megaminx!

I'm super new here, but so are most of us, so I figured I'd share this in case anyone else didn't know.

I just searched for a tool that lets me write multiple posts into a thread, and it turns out it's built in to blue sky! Just press '+' to add a reply to your post!

Nowadays our projects look more like this cake my son made for his birthday himself:

I used to do a lot of etching making resists on the laser cutter, stuff like this. Now the kiddos are older and I mostly spend that time with them instead, but they're surprisingly not as interested in making things as I am!

A friend snapped this photo of my kid goofing around at the park earlier today, and the accidental creepiness is so perfect for Halloween.
