I do sympathize with teachers. I’ve heard similar stories from those in the trenches. I haven’t been in the classroom for quite some time as I had to quit working due to medical disability. So when I wrote “former high school civics teacher” I was referring to decades ago. I admire your service

So important. Former high school civics teacher here. I’m certain the overall understanding of civics has dropped nationally.

They seem to have no understanding of what constitutes a fact vs a lie. This is what stuns me the most. We’ve had years now of these “alternate facts” as if they’re a real thing.
