The thing about these peaceful religions is often a product of the western imagination, the idea of far-off people living these incredibly peaceful & wise lives. For me, Buddhism, like other religions is an opiate for the workers. Well, what did you expect! 😉

I think the popular conception is that all Buddhists are peaceful, simply by virtue of the fact that they call themselves Buddhists. Nothing can be further from the truth. States where Buddhism is the dominant tradition have engaged in many wars & conflicts .

To be honest, I know very little about Buddhism or any religion due to my secular upbringing & education. I am aware that many people have a soft spot for Buddhism & as a religion it frequently escapes criticism.
