Spent most of the day reading what's possibly my most anticipated release of the year, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil aka Toxic Lesbian Vampires by V.E. Schwab! I'm halfway through and it's SO beautifully written and I can't wait to see how everything will play out.

Cosy day making an Easter-themed rocky road with my sister and starting a new puzzle! Not a fan of the puzzle's quality so far, but we'll see

Currently enjoying an extra long weekend! Visited my grandparents today, and picked up MySims and a small Lego set for some cosy hobby time. I finished my jigsaw puzzle and started playing MySims - hopefully I can start a new puzzle tomorrow🥰

Today is the first day of the Trans Rights Readathon, and of course I'm participating!🏳️‍⚧️ I have a lot of options on my TBR - physical books, some library books, a lot of Netgalley options. The first book I started is The Earl Meets His Match by TJ Alexander on audio!

Gender Queer - Maia Kobabe

I know this book has been banned a lot, which makes me especially sad since it's one of the books I've seen myself the most in. I read it in 2020 and it made me feel so emotional and so seen, I definitely want to reread it soon

Rules For Ghosting - Shelly Jay Shore

This was my favourite read of 2024, and it was an immediate all-time favourite. It's a somewhat unconventional romance because death is a huge theme, but everything is handled very gently

For the Love of April French - Penny Aimes

This is a kinky romance, which is not my usual genre, but I loved this one!

It's mostly a fluffy story about April learning she deserves to be loved, with a love interest who's in it for the long haul

The Out Side: Trans & Nonbinary Comics

This comics anthology offers a range of different perspectives and different ways to be trans. It serves as a great reminder that we're not alone. It's also a great way to find new-to-you artists you might want to read more from!

Hammajang Luck - Makana Yamamoto

A recent read I really enjoyed. This lesbian heist novel is filled to the brim with queer, trans and non-binary characters. I want to read more sci-fi this year, and this was a great place to start!

Godly Heathens - H.E. Edgmon

One of my favourite authors, and this is a truly unique book. It scratched my brain in a way I can't explain. Soulmate and reincarnation trope done right.

It's the first in a duology, and I'm hoping to read the sequel soon!

I recently won a signed copy of Don't Let the Forest In by @paperfury.bsky.social, and it arrived today. Thank you so much!!

I read this on Halloween, and it was the perfect atmospheric read, so I'm super happy to own a physical copy🥰 It'll be fun to reread and tab it!

Trans book rec of the day!🏳️‍⚧️ (I'll post a few extra ones because I started later in the month)

The Transgender Issue - Shon Faye

My review of this is just "Everyone should read this," and I stand by that.

Meticulously researched, amazingly written, and deeply important

Trans book recs of the day!🏳️‍⚧️

Petition for people to stop sleeping on Michael Gray Bulla's books!

Both of these YA contemporary novels are beautifully nuanced stories about coming of age and dealing with complex situations like grief and mental health.

I particularly recommend the audiobooks🥰

Make Room For Love - Darcy Liao

A kind, thoughtful roommates to lovers romance. I loved how they took their time getting to know each other and had so many mature conversations. Their connection builds slowly but steadily and it made the romance all the more believable

Finished work early and had some cosy reading time. I'm maybe 50 pages into Water Moon but I'm already deeply in love

Finally, after a year, have picked my bullet journal back up! I used to have so much fun with this and then it just fizzled out. Could really use some creative energy though!

Happy weekend! Do you have any plans? What will you be reading?

We're celebrating my grandparents' 60th (!!!) anniversary tomorrow. As for reading, IG helped me land on The Sleepless by Jen Williams. And I'd love to get back into journalling, I could use some creative energy.
