Roman history nut who’s also a rugby-loving, book-reading, country-walking, podcast-listening Agatha Christie aficionado.
My tickets are booked and I can’t wait - Christie and an excuse to go to Torquay.

But it looks as if you’ve really captured the sense of romancing in Rome - I’m buying! 🤣

Ooh happy days! I see a sofa, a large glass of red and some big headphones in my future tonight…

Listened to this when it came out. It’s wonderful journalism presented in such an engaging way. Well done! More of the same please!

Looks a wonderful talk - a shame it’s not just one day before the literary festival opens in Torquay as many could just have stuck on one extra night to do both but it gets pricey having to tag on two extra, plus nights in Torquay to do both events.

Danny goes Tiger King? Stick to the red duffle!

Whereabouts in Torquay was this?

Perhaps an unlikely fan, paying homage in an adorably geezerish, earthy manner? Or perhaps just a tw@t.

Too true. Lionel Shriver is just a professional whining expat, clearly on a nutritionally challenged diet given the media interests outlined. In a few years, she’ll be bemoaning the loss of the real Portugal from her next favourite place.

It’s here! What a great - getting stuck in now 😊

Sorry Danny but that’s chilling - truly Uncanny…

No class! They clearly haven’t learned the etiquette so perfectly displayed by those more educated types on the Dartmouth Steam Railway - you always wave back!

I’ve just finished the book, bought at @hayfestival.bsky.social , and it is a wonderfully insightful, illuminating and simply downright enjoyable book.

Is that the mighty Keirus Starmerus in the tiger skin hood, top right photo? Alas, they don’t make them like that any more.

This series is superb - a fantastic piece of serious journalism delivered in a really engaging style. More, please!
